what a year, what a year!

HOLA! it's been a great while. Well a lot has happened since the last blog. obviously. but it's been fun. I have been watching/nannying for this family back home and it's been so much fun! The kids are great and the Money is up there- AND- I recently got a second job working at the old restaurant I worked at before I left to Utah. It's so much fun. The best part is, an old high school buddy of mine is pretty much running the restaurant and told me he'd hire me over the bakery portion. I'm so Excited! I will be in Pastry heaven! Also. MERIDITH IS HOME! my long lost sister who has been on a mission the last 1 1/2! it has been pretty hectic around the house but I love these moments. Meridith got a job with the school district Substituting and tutoring until she moves to Utah in January. We are actually going down near the San Diego area to see one of the Elders she served with give his homecoming Talk. I'm pretty excited because I LOVE that area and almost went there for school. We'll see if that's where I'm going to live next as I check out the area. PLUS it's a home to my FAVORITE temple. Anyways, Funny story time.

Thursday Night we carved pumpkins for the enrichment activity. I was asked to help so I showed up supervising to make sure none of the kids cut themselves with the carving knives. Well good news is- no one got hurt.....with a carving knife... I was asked to carve the extra pumpkin that had been left. So as I put as much as my "creativity" into this pumpkin as I could- I was so proud of the outcome. I had actually done an awesome job! that's rare. As I put the pumpkin with a silhouette of a witch flying passed the moon up onto the stage, I was sadden by what happened next...the very fragile witch's head, fell off. I realized this could be a quick fix with a few toothpicks, so I go into the kitchen looking, but didn't find any. I thought to myself "hmmmm, what could I improvise a toothpick with?" ah-ha! Plastic fork prongs! I am about to pull the plastic prongs off of the fork when I remember that it hurts your fingertips when you do. so thinking I out-smarted the situation, I decide to put the curved end of the fork upwards, on the edge of the counter, push down with my fist, and hold the prongs with my other hand....bad idea. I put pressure on the fork and the prongs break off, but what does the rest of the jagged fork do? comes up and slits my wrist! downwards (which apparently is worse than side to side)and blood gushes out EVERYWHERE! just thinking it is nothing to be worried about, I immediately grab a paper towel and apply pressure. Later on my dad comes into the kitchen and helps and we manage to bandage it up. While debating about going to the hospital, thoughts come through my head... could you imagine sitting there with slit wrist and explaining to the doctor "No seriously Doc, I was carving pumpkins at a church activity when we were out of toothpicks, so I take this plastic fork right?...." meanwhile they put me on suicide watch and send me to a shrink! haha

anyways...maybe I'll find that more amusing than others but it just goes to show you you can never be too careful...and just when you think you are...you're wrong. OH! last note for the night. Meridith Dyed my hair...so here are some pictures!
